The driving mission of the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give is focused on feeding the hungry through Meijer's Simply Give program that restocks the shelves of food pantries across the Midwest. Over the past eight years, the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give has generated more than $8.65 million for food pantries in the communities it serves.

Volunteer Package - $30 per volunteer and includes the following:

  • Two (2) Official Tournament Golf Shirts with two (2) or more shifts or One (1) Official Tournament Golf shirt with one (1) shift
  • One (1) Official Tournament Hat or Visor
  • One (1) 10th Anniversary Commemorative Pin
  • One (1) Volunteer Credential - to use for your Tournament Pass and Parking Pass during tournament week.
  • Four (4) Weekly Grounds Passes for friends or family
  • Meals Provided on Scheduled Work Days

Committee Descriptions


The following are brief descriptions of the volunteer committees available during Tournament Week. Volunteers are encouraged to register early since committees and shift times are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Committee shift times are subject to change. If you have any questions regarding the specific responsibilities of a committee, please contact voluntee[email protected].



Admissions & Will Call

Admissions volunteers are responsible for staffing the ticket booth and assisting security to ensure that all spectators have the proper tickets for entry; Will-Call volunteers are responsible for staffing a location for ticket buyers to pick up previously purchased ticket.

Caddie Services

Responsible for upkeep for Caddie area. Hand out yardage books, towels, etc. for Caddie use.

Carts & Shuttles

Manage the cart area and oversee charging, distribution and collection of carts to authorized personnel. Assist with transporting LPGA players, on course volunteers and other designated personnel to various locations throughout the course. 

Concessions

Assist the catering vendor in running the concessions stands located throughout the tournament grounds at 10 tee, 16 fairway, 18 tee and 18 green (requires ability to stand for long periods of time).

Discovery Land (Kids Center)

Manage activities within Discovery Land (pop-a-shot, putt-putt etc.) and assist sponsors with load in product and cleanliness of respective areas.

Driving Range

Maintain order of the driving range by collecting and washing golf balls, changing players name plates and controlling access to the range. Volunteers can choose shifts at either Blythefield Country Club or Boulder Creek Golf Club.

Family Care

Assist with maintenance and manning the Family Care lactation station and diaper changing areas located at admissions and in the Family Village. Provide a welcoming environment and assist families using the Family Care Nursing station and diaper changing areas located at the Discovery Land Kids Center. *Females only

Hospitality - 18 Green

Check credential, distribute wristbands, and provide general assistance at all hospitality locations located around 18 green.

Hospitality - J. Brewer's

Check credentials, distribute wristbands, and provide general assistance at all hospitality locations located on the 4th fairway.


Marshals

Provide crowd control, man crosswalks and player gates and enforce golf etiquette among spectators.

Pro-Am Operations

Assist in Pro-Am registration, gift bag processes and various on-course activations (Monday-Wednesday only).

Scoring Central

Responsibilities include obtaining scores via radio from walking scorers and entering them into a computer for the Golf Channel leaderboard and calling the LPGA Rules officials when requested. Substantial golf knowledge is required.

Scoring Tents

Collect all official scorecards from each professional group ensuring all cards are signed. Scoring tents are located off the 9th green and 18th green.

Standard Bearers

Walk all 18 holes with group of players while carrying standard (sign) and updating with players' scores (requires the ability to walk 18 holes, and lift and carry 20 pounds).

Supply Distribution

Replenish water and snacks for player coolers located at each tee, the driving range, and starting tents.

Walking Scorers

Walk and record scores for LPGA players with the event's scoring system. Substantial golf knowledge is necessary. Must be able to walk 18 holes. 

Transportation

 Responsible for transporting players, staff, VIPS to various locations (including off-site hotel and airport) in courtesy vehicles provided by the tournament. Valid driver's license required. Subject to background checks. *Committee works before and after tournament.

Assist with volunteer check-in, distributing volunteer uniforms during tournament week, and manage volunteer headquarters

FAQ's

Registration Questions



What does it cost to volunteer?

The fee to volunteer is $30, and includes two official tournament golf shirts, one official tournament hat or visor, four weekly grounds passes for friends or family, and meals and beverages during scheduled shifts. The volunteer badge also serves as a week-long grounds and parking pass.

How many days do I have to volunteer and for how many hours?

Volunteers are encouraged to work at least 2 shifts over the course of Tournament Week. Shifts typically last between 4-6 hours. Days and times may vary depending on the specific committee responsibilities.

Do I need to be a golfer or have golf knowledge to volunteer?

There are Volunteer opportunities for everyone! We have several committees to choose from that do not require any golf knowledge. Training sessions are provided for committees that require specific duties (It is preferred that Walking Scorer Volunteers and Scoring Central Volunteers have some golf knowledge).

Are there any committees available that will be indoors?

Yes, Player Services, Scoring Central, Transportation, and Volunteer Services are all indoor committees.

Will I need training? When is Volunteer Training?

Volunteer training is recommended for the following committees: Ambassadors, Carts and Shuttles, Marshals, Transportation, and Walking Scorers. Training dates, times and format will be announced at a later date. If your committee does not have a training, direct any questions you may have to your Committee Chair.

If I have volunteered previously, do I need to sign up again?

Yes, every volunteer must register each year to update contact information, shift preferences and shirt sizes.

Can my children volunteer? Is there an age requirement?

Yes. Children ages 13 to 18 years old can Volunteer as Standard Bearers or on the Supply Distribution Committee. Volunteers for the Transportation Committee must be 25 years of age or older.

Can I be scheduled (for shift assignments) at the same time as my spouse, friend, etc.?

Using the TRS website, you have control over your shifts and times selection. Please coordinate with family and friends when selecting your shifts. If there are not available spots to work with friends, contact your Committee Chair or email [email protected] and we will try to accommodate.

When will I receive my schedule?

The shifts you select when registering online will be the shifts you are assigned. However, some committees require approval from the Committee Chair before the assignment of shifts (Player Services, Pro-Am, and Transportation). These committee members will be notified via email after registration of their assignments. The Committee Chair for all Committees will be in contact with their Volunteers concerning tournament information and scheduling details. Walking Scorers & Standard Bearers will receive specific tee time assignments when tee times are released closer to the Tournament.

Uniform Questions



What do I wear with my uniform?

Volunteers will wear their tournament branded volunteer polos and hats or visors during their scheduled shifts. Volunteers are asked NOT to wear denim. Any solid-colored pants, shorts or skirts are required. Be sure to wear comfortable, close-toed shoes and be prepared for inclement weather. Please remember to check the weather each day and come prepared.

Can I purchase additional uniform items?

Yes! You may also purchase a quarter-zip pullover online, though these are not required. If available, additional uniform items will be for sale during Tournament Week in the Volunteer Center.

When will the uniforms be distributed?

Stay tuned - Uniform Distribution Event details to be announced soon! Uniforms may also be picked up during Tournament Week if you are unable to attend the Uniform Distribution Event.

What do I do if my uniform does not fit?

Volunteer Uniforms can be exchanged during Tournament Week in the Volunteer Center.


Can I watch golf when I'm not volunteering?

Yes. Each volunteer receives four (4) weekly grounds tickets for their use or to share with friends/family. Volunteers are welcome to watch golf before or after their shift, and on days off as well. On days that you are not working, please do not wear your Volunteer uniform.

On-site Questions



Where do I park?

Volunteers will park at Northview High School (4365 Hunsberger Ave NE
Grand Rapids, MI 49525) and will be shuttled to the Volunteer Center. Please try and arrive at Northview High School approximately 45 minutes prior to the start of your shift. Your Volunteer Credential acts as a parking pass. If you have not picked up your credential, let security know you are a first time Volunteer.

Can I watch golf when I'm not volunteering?

Yes. Your credential is valid for the entire week and we encourage you to enjoy the Tournament in your free time. Volunteers are welcome to watch golf before or after their shift, and on days off as well. On days that you are not working, please do not wear your Volunteer uniform.

What should I bring when I come for my shift?

Depending on your assignment you may want to bring a camping-like folding chair and appropriate weather gear. Keep an eye on the weather and bring an umbrella or jacket if you will need it. Be sure to bring headwear and plenty of sunscreen if you are working out on the course.

Can I bring my camera or cell phone?

Cameras are not allowed. Cell phones are allowed, but please make sure to keep the ringer on silent. Please refrain from taking any photos with your cell phone, Thursday - Sunday during Tournament play.

Can I ask for autographs?

Please refrain from asking players for autographs when you are working as a Volunteer. If you are not working and not in uniform you may get autographs, (please do not interrupt the player's round). Autographs on the Volunteer uniform are prohibited.

Will food and beverage be provided?

Yes. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for Volunteers on their scheduled work days.  There will be snacks, coffee, water, and other assorted beverages in Volunteer Center as well.
